TEWKSBURY: Robert Allen “Buttons” Nocco, age 58, a resident of Tewksbury for over 20 years, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the loving husband of Dianne G. (Emmons) Nocco with whom he celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary on January 4th.
Born in Cambridge on March 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Anthony C. and Elizabeth (Ferreira) (Nocco) Chaudoin.
Mr. Nocco was raised in Cambridge, Billerica and Tewksbury.
He attended Billerica and Tewksbury schools.
Mr. Nocco was employed as an area painting and building contractor for more than 40 years.
According to his family, he enjoyed playing softball for team “Nocco” in the Billerica Adult Softball League, attending horse races in Saratoga, NY and spending time with his children and granddaughter. In addition, he was known by many as the “food connoisseur” and loved to cook and entertain his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Christine Devlin and her husband Peter of Toronto, Canada, Bianca L. Nocco of North Andover and Michaela L. Nocco of Tewksbury; two sons; Zachary T. Nocco of North Andover and Howard H. Barter, IV of Tewksbury; three grandchildren, Jordan and John Devlin and Kailynn Barter; one brother, John K. Nocco of Tewksbury; his close friends, Santiago Gomez, III, Charles Griffin, Bob Thorlton and John Potter; many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Rocky Nocco, Jr.
Mr. Nocco was the brother of the late Richard and George “Rocky” Nocco.
Calling hours Wednesday, March 14th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Thursday, march 15th, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Buttons Nocco Mesothelioma Lung Cancer Foundation, payable to Dianne Nocco, 2295 Main St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 are requested.
