Jose Pereira. Age 89. Husband of Maria Lurdes(Aguiar)Pereira. Residence: Ripley Street, Somerset. Died Saturday in Fall River at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores. Son of the late Nicolino Pereira and the late Mariana Pereira. He was a resident of Somerset for 42 years.
Before retiring, he had worked for the Town of Somerset as a Custodian in the Town Hall. He had previously worked as a Laborer in Construction and previously was the Owner & Operator of his own Cab when he lived in the Azores. He was a parishioner of St. John of God Church and also Served in the Army in Portugal. He enjoyed sports and traveling to the Azores.
Besides his wife of Somerset, he is survived by 2 Daughters: Marialice Correia of Somerset and Mary Lou Zpiga of Fall River. 1 Brother: Guilherme Pereira of Azores. 7 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren and Several Nieces and Nephews. He was the Father of the late Emily Pedrosa. He was the brother of the late Alvaro Pereira and Mary Amaral.
The Funeral for Family will be Private with private Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery and Private Calling Hours for Family.
