Hudson, MA
James J. O’Keefe Jr.-78, of Hudson, MA died Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home on Coe’s Pond in Worcester, MA.
He was husband to the late Barbara L. (Melling) O’Keefe who died in July of 2000.
He was born in Malden, MA son of the late James and Janet (Beattie) O’Keefe.
He was a graduate of Everett H.S. and later attended Newman Prep and Merrimack College where he was a member of the first graduating class. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in Japan. He was the former owner of O’Keefe Engineering Co. in Hudson, MA before retiring. He was a member and co-founder of the Hudson Booster Club, a member of the Hudson Lodge of Elks and a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson. He was an avid sports fan and attended numerous sporting events at all levels locally.
Survived by his children, James O’Keefe, Daniel O’Keefe and Ellen Carter all of Hudson, MA; Diane Landi of Bolton, MA, and Maureen O’Keefe of New York, NY. He is also survived by his 3 brothers, John O’Keefe of Boxford, Richard O’Keefe of Lexington, and George O’Keefe of Revere, 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Janet and Margaret O’Keefe.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 10, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michaels Church 21 Manning street Hudson, MA. Calling hours will be held Friday, March 9, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson, MA.
