Mr. Kenneth Anthony Thornton, beloved husband of M. Margaret (Feehily) Thornton, a resident of Medford for more than 36 years, died at the Courtyard Nursing Center in Medford on Thursday, March 1, 2007. He was 74 years old.
Born in England on August 18, 1932, he was a beloved son of the late Richard and Elizabeth (Carr) Thornton. He was drafted by the British Army and was assigned to the Corps of Engineers, serving in Germany for more than two years. Following his military service, he returned to England and worked for Associated Electrical Industries for 17 years, until the company closed in 1968. He then went to Boston, Massachusetts, and worked for Stone & Webster for 25 years, as an electrical engineer.
In his spare time he enjoyed running, carpentry, reading and travel. He and his beloved wife, Margaret, were married on November 27, 1954.
Besides his loving wife, Kenneth will be sorely missed by two daughters and two sons-in-law; Ruth B. Thornton and her husband Wayne Smith of Great Falls, VA and Aileen F. and her husband David Kutz of Sterling, VA, five cherished granddaughters; Fiona, Leah, Katie, Alycia and Breanna, one brother; Norman Thornton of England, one brother-in-law; William and his wife Dellan Feehily of Galway and one niece; Angela James of England.
His funeral was from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Tuesday, March 2, 2007, at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours were Monday, March 5, 2007, from 4 to 7 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
