Obituary

Aniela (Jacak) Janiak passed away March 3, 2007 at her home in Framingham. She was in her 100th year, and a mere two weeks away from celebrating her 100th birthday with her family. A resident of Needham from 1924-1973, and a resident of Framingham from 1973-2007. Aniela was the wife of the late John J. Janiak who died in 1949. She was the loving mother of Ziegmond W. Janiak of Holliston, Wanda J. Kalweit of Fairfax Station, VA, Diane Janiak Thomas of Framingham, the late John J. Janiak and loving stepmother of Stanley Janiak. The daughter of the late Wojciek and Rosalia Jacek, Aniela was born in Klenczany, Poland, a suburb of Krakow and Nowy Sacz on March 17, 1907. She immigrated to the United States from Poland in 1921 with her oldest sister Katherine on the Mauritania, a vessel in the Cunard line. A firm believer in hard work, Aniela was a machine operator and stitcher for Wilson Sporting Goods, Raytheon, Morschner Dye Works, the William Gorse Company and Ace Leather. After the death of her husband, she raised her daughter Diane as a single mother. Aniela loved her home and her yard. She loved her plants and her lawn; her green thumb was readily evident. She cut her own grass until she was 93, and continued rake her leaves through this past autumn. Additionally, she was the cultivator of some of the biggest and most beautiful rhododendrons in Framingham.
Aniela loved music and wrote both songs and poetry in English and in her native Polish. A proud citizen of the United States, she glowingly sang “God Bless America” at almost every family gathering and holiday. Yet above all she loved her family. In addition to her five children, Aniela was the grandmother of seventeen, great grandmother of 24 great grandchildren, and great great grandmother of one. She was the beloved Babci of Sharon (Thomas) Cleary, Douglas Thomas, David Thomas and Susan Thomas.
Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Thursday March 8th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, Newton Upper Falls at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours on Wed 4-8 PM. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery in Needham.
