Obituary

Lawrence Baker of Chelsea died on March 2nd at the Wingate at Sudbury. He was 77 years old.

Lawrence was born in Boston and was a resident of Chelsea for most of his life, graduating from the Chelsea schools. Following Chelsea High School, Lawrence went on to Emerson College and Boston University to continue his education. Lawrence served in the Army in the Korean conflict and was a Korean War Veteran. A retired salesman from the Jordan Marsh Co., Lawrence was very active in the community serving as a member of the Chelsea Housing Authority and a very active member in the Labor Movement for Retail Workers.

Lawrence was the dear brother of Arthur Baker of Norwood and Dorothy Porges of Peabody. He was the loving uncle of Helene Gold of Framingham, Arthur Rowe of Gardner and Eric Rowe of Worcester. He was the beloved cousin of Marsha Stone of Waltham, Frances Cargill of Cambridge and Harvey Stone of Lynnfield. Lawrence was the loving son of the late Harry and Esther (White) Baker and the brother of the late Sophie Kessel. He is also survived by many dear friends and relatives.

Graveside funeral services were held at the Chevra Thilim Cemetery, Fuller St., Everett on Sunday, March 4th at 11:00 AM. Rabbi Nochum Cywiak will officiate.
