New Bedford - Walter I. Vincent, 82, of Third Street, Westport passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie A. (Newman) Vincent.
Born in East Irington, NY, son of the late James E. and Jeannie E. (Andersen) Vincent, he was a longtime resident of Westport. He was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. Among his many jobs prior to retirement he was a toolmaker for Brown and Sharp in RI, a repairman for numerous McDonalds and a certified gemologist. Mr. Vincent raised schnauzers, enjoyed electronics and was a handyman, helping his friends and neighbors as he could fix anything.
He is survived by a sister: Frances Gallant of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late George W. Vincent, Cornelius Vincent and William A. Vincent.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Visitation will be Tuesday 8:30 – 9:30 A.M. prior to the Mass at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
