Obituary

SPENCER-Earl L. Allen, 75, of 42 R. Jones Road, died Wednesday, December 5th in UMass-Memorial Healthcare-Memorial Campus. He leaves his wife of 33 years Nila M. (Johnson) Allen, 3 brothers Thomas Allen of Troy, NY, George P. and Edward D. Allen both of Worcester, 3 sisters Lorraine E. Bleau of Spencer, Dorothy L. Fields and Doreen R. Chagnon both of Worcester, and many nephews and nieces. A brother Ronald Allen of Bethel, PA and 2 sisters Anita Beauchane and Norma St. Francis both of Worcester pre-deceased him.

He was born in Worcester the son of Thomas and Doris (Cormier) Allen and had lived in Spencer for many years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Spencer, a lifetime member and former mayor of the Worcester Boys Club and a member of the Gaudet American Legion Post. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War 2 and in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Allen had been employed for 32 years with the Government Service Administration in Worcester as foreman of maintenance and operations retiring in 1984, and had also worked for the Veterans Administration in Rutland. He enjoyed traveling.

The funeral will be Saturday, December 8th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church Street, Spencer. Burial will be in Mary Queen of the Rosary Cemetery in Spencer. Calling hours are Friday, December 7th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
