Leslie I. Norwood, Sr., 80, of Derry, NH died February 28, 2007 at Parkland Medical Center in Derry after a sudden illness. He was born in Bar Harbor ME on August 25, 1926, a son of the late Gerald and Ruby (Nason) Norwood. Raised in Bar Harbor, he was a Navy veteran of World War II. He has resided in Derry for the past 52 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Lannan Corp. as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Norwood was employed at the Sandown NH Transfer Station on a part-time basis. He was a former member and past commander of the Derry VFW Post #1617 and was a member of the Cooties.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dolores (Gudeahn) Norwood of Derry; two sons, Leslie I. Norwood, Jr. of Derry and Clyde Norwood of Arizona; a daughter Linda Arel of Danville, NH; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Coloney of Penacook, NH and Jerry Norwood of Bar Harbor, ME; a sister, Barbara Crowley of Bar Harbor, ME; several nieces and nephews. Patricia Lynch and Roger Marcouillier, special people in his life, also further survive him.
Following cremation, there are no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart association, Northeast Affiliate, 2 Wall St., Manchester NH 03101.
