Robert H. Pierce, 86, of Mansfield died on Monday February 26, 2007 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA. He was the beloved husband of Nancy B. (Ryan) Pierce to whom he was wed to on September 19, 1952.
Born in Carter County, Tennessee on April 20, 1920 he was a dear son of the late Robert H. and Annie E. (Rains) Pierce.
He grew up in Wautauga Valley, Tenn. and was a graduate of Unaka High School in Carter County. Mr. Pierce enlisted in the United States Army in 1939 and spent the next 20 years serving his country. His service time included WWII, the Korean Conflict and during the Vietnam Era. He was honorably discharged in 1959 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 2nd Class. He later worked as a truck driver at the Hallsmith-Sysco Co. in Norton for 13 years retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in West Mansfield Village. Bob was a member of St. James Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Mansfield for many years where he also served as a past Worshipful Master. He was a member of The Scottish Rites of Oklahoma and The Shriner’s of San Mateo, California.
Mr. Pierce enjoyed photography, woodworking and was an avid Red Sox fan. He treasured the wonderful times spent with his loving family. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past 40 years.
Besides his beloved wife of over 54 years he is survived by his devoted children Robert A. Pierce of Mansfield, Charles E. Pierce and his wife Shelly of Los Angeles, California, Lauri B. Baptiste and her husband Raymond of Attleboro, Jonathan W. Pierce and his wife Martha of Mansfield, Kristina K. Bizier and her husband Paul of Attleboro and Benjamin R. Pierce and his wife Jade of Los Angeles, California. Also survived by his cherished 8 grandchildren 1 great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Nina Estep.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday March 2nd at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church, 13 Otis Street, West Mansfield Village. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:15 P.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday March 1st from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. A Masonic service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home
