Dolores (Bortone) Allen, 71 of Billerica, MA, died February 22, 2007 in the Concord Healthcare Center, Concord, MA. She was born in Somerville, MA on September 12, 1935, a daughter of the late, Lucido and Mary (Musto) Bortone. A resident of Billerica since April 2006, she formerly lived in Somerville and Londonderry, NH. She was a 1953 graduate of Somerville High School. She had been employed for SBLI in Somerville and various other jobs before retiring in 1998. She enjoyed traveling, knitting and sewing and loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by husband Richard I. Allen with whom she celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary in May of 2006. She is survived by her children, Richard Allen Jr. and his wife Connie of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Kimberly Murphy and her husband William of Weymouth, MA, Karen Girard and her husband John of Billerica, Ronald Allen and his wife Kalley Cutler of Salem, NH, Katharine Kilroy and her husband Timothy of Billerica, Robert Allen and his wife Jayne of Tewksbury, MA, her grandchildren, Kelly, Michael and Chrissy Allen, Sean, Caitlin and Meghan Murphy and Jamison Cutler Allen and her great grandson, Robert Norton Jr., her sisters, Rose LaPierre, Grace Tuminelli, Clara Scancarello, and her brothers Jerry, Julius, Vincent, Louis and Ralph Bortone. Also survived by her niece and dear friend Judy Shannon and her family, George, Michael, Jen and Heather. She was predeceased by her siblings, Anna Trigledas, Caesar, Edward and Robert Bortone.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Dove Unit at the Concord Healthcare Center. Following cremation, a celebration of life will be held Saturday March 10, 2007 at 11:30am in the Londonderry Christian Church, Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 – 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472. The Peabody Funeral Homes of Derry and Londonderry is handling arrangements.
