Obituary

Audrey L. (Wolfe) Shirley King, 80, of Naomi Drive, Ledyard, passed away Thursday at Fairview of Groton with her family at her side.

Mrs. King was born in Pennsylvania on April 6, 1926 the daughter of Lee and Elizabeth (Matzdorff) Wolfe.

She was employed as manager of the Ladies Department of Caldor’s in Norwich before retiring. Previously, she worked for many years at the Style’s Shop in Groton and the Casual Shop.

Mrs. King loved antiquing and could often be found shopping for them on Sunday afternoons. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and had a great love of the beach and would often take them, along with their friends, to enjoy the summer days. She was also an avid Red Sox and UConn Huskies fan.

Mrs. King is survived by her children, Janet Paige and her husband David of Preston, Robert Shirley and his wife Holly of Griswold, Lee Shirley and his wife Tammie of Griswold, Kim Davidson and her husband Ralph of North Stonington, and Wendy Shirley of New London; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Lapinski of Port St. Lucie, FL. She was predeceased by her husband, Leslie King and her brother, Harry Wolfe.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 12noon until 12:45pm. A Service will follow at 1pm. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
