Obituary

WORCESTER- Gust Tsiokas, 81, of 10 Hemlock St., a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, died Friday, Feb. 23 in UMASS Memorial Healthcare. He leaves his beloved wife of 59 years, June S. (Kirby) Tsiokas; a son, Perry Tsiokas of Providence, RI; two daughters, Lenni Nyberg and her husband Dana of Worcester and Dianne Berg of Worcester; his grandchildren, Perry Manzello of Gloucester, Mark Tsiokas and his wife Jessica of Spencer, Amanda Tsiokas of Bristol, RI, Alissa Tsiokas, Leah Nyberg, Christopher, Evan and James Berg, all of Worcester. He also leaves three brothers, George and Alex Tsiokas of Worcester and Ted Tsiokas in Florida; four sisters, Sophia Tsiokas, Katherine Nanchu, Thalia McGrath and Helen Pilitsis, all of Worcester. He was predeceased by a son James Tsiokas in 1980, and four brothers, Steve, Spyridon, James and Pericles Tsiokas.

He was born in Chicago, IL son of Nicholas and Marina (Boulios) Tsiokas. He lived in Worcester for most of his life after moving here as a young man and was an Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Tsiokas was a Chef and Restaurateur for many years and once worked in the Cypress Room and Eden Gardens. He was an active member of the Frohsinn Club and VFW.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 27 from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with an 11:00 AM service in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting hours are Monday, Feb. 26 from 6:00–8:00 PM in the funeral home.
