Sydney Mazer, a resident of Newton & former resident of West Roxbury, died peacefully on February 21, 2007 at the Avery Manor Nursing Care Facility in Needham. He was 93 years old.
Born in Chelsea on December 12, 1913, the son of the late Samuel & Rebecca (Feldman), Sydney was raised & educated in Chelsea. After graduating from Chelsea High School he went on to study & earn degrees at Northeastern University & Northeastern University Law School. Sydney was a private practice attorney in the Boston area for many years. An avid chess player, he also had a special fondness for all animals & enjoyed humor. Sydney will be remembered as a gentleman who was a friend to so many people in all walks of life.
Husband of the late Selma (Taylor), he is survived by his daughter, Sandy Schawbel of Newton & & grandson, Josh Schawbel of Newton. Sydney was the brother of the late Rose Grossman, Bessie Hadgi, Anne Brecher, & Max Mazer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 11:00 AM in the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Av. Chelsea. Rabbi Nochum Cywiak of Cong. Agudas Shalom & Cong.
