Obituary

Paul J. Manning, 92, of New Bedford died Friday October 25, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Armstrong) Manning,and son of the late Sylvester and Mary (Welsh) Manning.

Mr. Manning was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for most of his life. He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.

Mr. Manning was formerly employed as a letter carrier and parcel postman with the United States Post Office in New Bedford for many years, and previous to that he was Manager of the First National Store at Kempton Street & Rockdale Avenue.

He was a member of the American Legion of Dartmouth and the National Association of Letter Carriers. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Kathleen Manning and her husband Paul Arnold, of Millis, Dr. Joan Nolan and her husband William P. Nolan, of Phoenix, AZ, and Paula M. deCruz and her husband Ruben Cruz, of New Bedford; and 4 grandchildren Joshua Arnold, Romy Cruz, Daniela Cruz, and Lily Anne Nolan.He was the grandfather of the late William Nolan, and brother of the late Mary Pelletier, Sylvester Manning and Henry Manning.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday October 28, 2002 at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday October 27, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
