Hugh Andrew Edwards was born March 22, 1911 to the late Mr. Andy Edwards and the late Mrs. Nancy Barkley Edwards in Scottsboro, Alabama. He departed this life June 16, 2006 at Highland Medical Center.
Brother Hugh was a member of Saint Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Deacon until his health failed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, son, Andrew; two sisters: Emma and Addie; and five brothers: Jim, Bill, John, Sam and Dee.
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Helen Edwards of Scottsboro, Alabama; sister, Catherine Edwards of Radcliff, Kentucky; three grandchildren: Tony A. Edwards of Brooklyn, New York, Jean Mason of Guntersville, Alabama, and Wayne Davis of Scottsboro, Alabama; sixteen great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Rebecca Blair of Binghamton, New York, Lorene Blair of Scottsboro, Alabama and Gladys Blair of Hollywood, Alabama, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
