Obituary

Paul Truman Avery, age 61, of Ledyard, passed away Monday at his home.

A lifelong resident of Ledyard, Paul was born October 6, 1945 the son of Elmer R. Avery Sr. and Lucy A. (Pierce) Avery. He attended Ledyard schools and later served in the US Army from 1963-1966.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Stimpson Contracting Co. He was a proud member of the Eastern Draft Horse Association and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

He is survived by his sisters, Alice Champlin of Gales Ferry, Joan Mitchell of Stonington, and Betty Crandall of Jefferson, WI, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Elmer R. Avery Jr., Rose Donnelly, and Mary Waterhouse.

Paul’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday from 5-7pm. A Graveside Service with military honors will be conducted at Avery-Stoddard Cemetery, Ledyard on Friday at 11am with the Rev. Doretta Colburn, officiating.
