Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Jan Orsula, age 82, a resident of Tewksbury for 43 years, died Saturday, February 17, 2007 at Lowell General Hospital.
He was the husband of Shirley J. (O’Connell) Orsula, who died January 5, 2006.
Born in Cerova-Lieskove, Czecheslovakia on May 11, 1924, he was the son of Stefan and Maria (Krchnava) Orsula.
Mr. Orsula was raised in Trnava, Czecheslovakia. He attended Trnava schools and the University of Prague.
Mr. Orsula resided in Australia, Boston and Arlington until moving to Tewksbury in 1963.
Prior to his retirement in 1989, he was employed as a Technical Instructor in the Physics Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, where he worked for 31 years.
Mr. Orsula was a member of the M.I.T. Quarter Century Club.
He enjoyed many activities including hiking, canoeing and traveling.
Mr. Orsula is survived by one daughter, Marianne B. Matulewicz and her husband Steven of Milford; three sons, Stephen J. Orsula and his wife Lynda (Kling) of Dracut, George W. Orsula and his wife Pam Turci of Harvard and Peter J. Orsula and his wife Nancy (Halloran) of Tewksbury; four grandchildren, Thomas and Kevin Orsula both of Dracut and Eric and Alex Orsula both of Tewksbury.
Calling hours Wednesday, February 21st from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Thursday, February 22nd, at 10 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11 a.m., at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at a later date at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Oblate Novitiate, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 are requested.
