Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday at 9am. Funeral mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am. Burial in Knollwood Memorial Park. Matthew J. Venuti, of Brockton, died Friday evening at Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, after a brief illness. Born, raised and educated in Roxbury, son of the late Sebastiano and Stephana (Puleo) Venuti. He was WWII Army veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He had been employed as a machinist by Stride Rite Company for 44 years and retired from Pneumatic Scale of Quincy. He enjoyed playing cards, especially with his friends on Monday nights for 50 years; time spent with his family and at Raynham Race Track and Suffolk Downs. He had been a resident of Brockton for the past seven years, previously living in Dedham.
He is survived by his children, Mark Venuti and his wife Mary of Brockton; Cheryl Walsh and her husband Joe of Brockton; John Venuti and his wife Brenda of Middleboro and Joseph Venuti and his wife Maureen of Whitman, 9 grandchildren, Jillian, Matthew, Nancy, Melissa, Leeanne, Michael, Joseph, Julia and Kayla, one great grandchild Terrance, one brother Dominic Venuti of West Roxbury and two sisters Mary Lewis of Stoughton and Dolly Pugliese of Canton. He was the husband of the late Dorothy P. (Robitaille) Venuti and brother of the late Antonette Forte and Jennie Ashburn.
