Helen (Rogers) Tavares. Age 90. Widow of James Tavares, Sr. Residence 2446 Highland Ave., formerly of 15 Millard St.,Fall River, MA. Died Saturday at Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Dighton, MA. Daughter of the late Dennis Rogers and the late Phoebe(Arruda) Rogers. She was a Fall River resident for most of her life. Before retiring, she was a Sewing Machine Operator at Shelbourne Shirt and Tioga Sportswear. She was a member of St. Bernard Church.
She is survived by One Son: James Tavares, Jr. of Fall River, MA. One Brother: Albert Rogers of Fall River, MA. Several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Dorothy Velozo.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St. Thursday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernard Church, Main St., Assonet at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 4-8 PM.
