WORCESTER-Patrick J. Meehan, 78, of 105 South Flagg Street, died Monday, October 21st in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center after a short illness. He leaves his wife of 44 years, Mary E. (Boohan) Meehan; a son, James P. Meehan of Sudbury; 2 grandsons, Conor and Brendan Meehan of Sudbury; several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Michael, James and John Meehan and 5 sisters, Mary Breene, Anne Keyes, Betty Gorman, Kathleen Smithers and Rose Coleman.
He was born in Ireland, the son of Michael and Rose Ann (Healey) Meehan and came to the United States in 1949. Mr. Meehan was employed by the City of Worcester in the public works department for 20 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
The funeral will be Wednesday, October 23rd with a 10:00 AM mass in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Massachusetts Division, 7 Oak Street, Worcester, MA 01609 or to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA -1701-4688.
