WEBSTER – Mary B. Kolak, 59, of 37 Nancy Drive, died Wednesday, February 7, in UMass/Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after an extended illness.
She leaves her husband, George J. “Geo” Franco; a son, Stephen J. Swierzbin of Woodstock, CT; and 3 granddaughters, Paige, Katelyn and Alicia.
She was born in New Britain, CT, the daughter of Edward J. and Caroline E. (Kozub) Kolak. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1965, where she belonged to the Latin Club. She graduated from an affiliate school of Mass. General Hospital.
As a licensed practical nurse, she provided private care in Boston and then worked for 13 years at Oakwood Rehab & Convalescent Center. Over the past 13 years, she participated in various entrepreneurial endeavors with her husband Geo.
She was a member of St. Joseph Basilica and a former choir member.
The funeral will be held Monday, February 13, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. Calling hours are from 1:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, February 11, in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or donations made to St. Joseph Basilica.
