Obituary

Robert R. Andrews II a Needham resident for 56 years died on Saturday February 3, 2007 at the Stanley R. Tippett House in Needham. He was 90 years old. Born on Belmont, Robert grew up in Waban. He attended the University of North Carolina. Mr. Andrews was a World War II veteran. He served as a bombardier on a B-17 bomber. He flew well over 300 combat hours on 47 missions. On his 47th mission, Mr. Andrews was shot down and had to parachute from his plane. He was captured by enemy forces and was a P.O.W. for 9 months. He worked for Raytheon for over 25 years as an Exhibits Manager. He retired at age 65. Mr. Andrews was a Past Master of Nehoiden Lodge AF & AM, 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Aleppo Temple Shrine. He was a former deacon and active member of the Congregational Church in Needham. He was the beloved husband for 57 years of Jean (Stanton) and the loving father of Cheryl J. Kreck of Jeffersonton VA, Ellyn B. Smith of Gilford NH, Robyn M. Andrews of Reading and Robert R. “Andy” Andrews III of Randolph. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A Funeral Service will be held at the Congregational Church of Needham, 1154 Great Plain Avenue, on Tuesday Feb. 6 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Monday from 4-7 PM. Interment with Military Honors at Needham Cemetery In lieu of flowers donations in Robert’s name may be made to the Scottish Rite learning Center, 458 Newtonville Ave, Newton Ma 02460 or to the Stanley R.
