Mrs. Harriet (Ridings) Eastman of Andover, beloved wife of the late Weston D. Eastman, died at the Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, January 30, 2007. She was 84 years old.
She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on March 5, 1922. Mrs. Eastman was a graduate of the Edward Searles High School, class of 1939 where she enjoyed playing basketball. She was a former Cub Scout Den Mother and a member of the Lanam Club in Andover. In 68 years she never missed a Friday lunch out with her best friend, Vida Marjerison. She was a former member of the Shawsheen School PTA, a 60 year member of Shawsheen Village Women’s Club and a Charter member of Beta Sigma Phi. Mrs. Eastman loved to dance, summering in York Beach, Maine and was an avid sports fan, with a particular love for the Boston Red Sox. She also loved making chocolate chip cookies for generations of neighborhood children. She was always very civic minded, spending endless hours volunteering for a number of charitable organizations, including fund raising for both the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Eastman will be sorely missed by her beloved son, W. Dean Eastman of Andover, dear friend of 68 years; Vida Marjerison of Andover, niece; Carol Lord of Salisbury and nephew; Carl Conley of Salem, New Hampshire.
Her funeral service was celebrated in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Saturday, February 3, 2007, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends were most welcome. Calling hours were Friday, February 2, 2007, from 3 to 7 PM. Burial was in Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover.
