FALL RIVER - James Michael Noone, age 84, of 2446 Highland Ave., formerly of Hicks St., Fall River, died Wednesday at Catholic Memorial Home. He was the Beloved Husband of Evelyn (Teixeira) Noone for 31 years.Besides his wife, he is survived by his dear daughter: Mary Elizabeth Noone of Fall River; Five Sisters: Catherine Cusack of Watertown, MA., Ann Grossimon of Cotuit, MA., Geraldine Quinn of Dennis, MA. and West Palm Beach, FL., Mary Theresa Noone and Rita Noone both of Bedford, N.H.; Two Special Cousins: Catherine Richardson of Eastham, MA. and John O’Donnell of Jamaica Plain, MA.; Several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Thomas and John Noone.
Born in the Mission Hill section of Boston, the son of the late Thomas P. Noone and the late Mary (O’Donnell) Noone. He was a Fall River resident for 30 years. He was a graduate of Mission High School and attended Boston College and Northeastern University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and part of the Company A 26th Signal Construction Battalion, serving time in Normandy, France, and Germany. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon Victory Medal. He was later employed by the Boston Naval Shipyard, Stone and Webster and the Treasurer’s Office at Fall River Government Center. He was a member of the American Legion (Mission Hill Post #327); NARFE; and the Retired State, County, & Municipal Employee Assoc. of Massachusetts. He loved his family dearly and also had a passion for cars, sports, Irish music, and bid whist. He was also a member of Holy Trinity Church.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St. on Saturday at 8:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church, Stafford Rd. Fall River at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River, MA. Calling hours: Friday 4-8 P.M.
