Obituary

Michael Vongsavath, 35 formerly of Dedham and Newton died January 30 in Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Boston after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Christine (McCaffrey) Vongsavath.
Born in Vientiane Laos, November 14, 1971, the son of Somchit and Oudom (Sysavath) Vongsavath of Dedham, Mr. Vongsavath had lived for several years in Dedham and Newton.
He was the manager of the Walgreens in Newton Center at the time of his death.
Mr. Vongsavath enjoyed playing soccer and poker.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his son, Michael Jr. and daughters, Cynthia and Angela Vongsavath, all of Bellingham.
He is also survived by his brother, Pornchai Sengthong of Dedham, sisters, Stephanie Vongsavath of Newtonville and Jenny Vongsavath of Waltham and his niece, Jasmine.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 3 from the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home 3 Barber St. in Medway at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 151 Village Street in Medway at 10:00 a.m.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 5-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Vongsavath Family Fund c/o Bank of America 108 Main St., Medway, MA 02053.
