TYNGSBORO- Leona M. (Sanford) Alexa, 88, a longtime resident of Tyngsboro, died Tuesday January 23rd. She was the wife of the late John J. Alexa Sr. who died in 2002.
She was born in Lowell on February 19, 1918, and was the daughter of the late William A. and Flora B. (Aker) Sanford. She received her education in Tyngsboro schools.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Alexa was employed by Piconics Electronics in Tyngsboro.
In her free time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening.
She was a member of Tyngsboro Evangelical Church.
She is survived by two sons John J. Alexa Jr. and his wife Darryl of Tyngsboro, and Bruce Alexa and his wife Barbara of Charlotte, NC, two daughters Nancy Whitt of NC, and Joan Drew of N. Chelmsford, 19 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a daughter-in-law Cindy Alexa of Virginia; a sister Charlotte Kramer of ME; a sister-in-law Yvette Sanford of Tyngsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Carlie Boulard, Debra Alexa, and Stanley Alexa.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Saturday from 12 until 1pm, followed by her graveside service at 1:30 in Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery.
