Leona M. (Banis) Keating, 89, of Shrewsbury died Wed., Jan. 24 in Radius Healthcare. Her husband of 29 years, George V. Keating died in 1975. She leaves five children, Patrick V. Keating of Charlton, John P. Keating of Wilmington, NC, Diane M. Lavigne of Leicester, Carol A. Keating of Worcester and Marilyn B. Porcaro of Gray, ME; a sister, Patricia P. Paquette of W. Boylston; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Casimir and Petronella (Lukosius) Banis.
Leona, was a senior aid at Green Island CDC for several years, prior to that she worked at the former Waite Hardware Store and Keating Auto School. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and past treasurer of the Lithuania Woman’s Club.
A funeral will be held Sat., Jan. 27, from CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A Visiting Hour will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 AM on Sat. Jan 27, at the funeral home.
