Obituary

Juha T. Koljonen a Needham resident for 18 years died suddenly while cross-country skiing on Saturday January 20th at Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth, New Hampshire. He was 52 years old. Born in Helsinki, Finland, Juha lived there until his family moved to Brooklyn, New York at the age of 3. He lived in New York for about 10 years. Mr. Koljonen worked as a software engineer for Cognex in Natick for 18 years. He was active in local youth sports as an assistant coach for both St. Joseph’s basketball and St. Bartholomew’s soccer. A guitarist, Johan was a member of “Keith’s Basement Band”. He was enjoyed cross-country skiing, biking and tennis. The beloved husband fro 17 years of Denice M. (Andrews), he was the loving father of Sean A., Erica R., and Brianna E. Koljonen all of Needham. He was the devoted son of Vilho and Sirkka Koljonen of Detroit. Memorial services at the Congregational Church of Needham, 1154 Great Plain Ave on Thursday January 25th at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Wednesday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation 20 Walnut St. Wellesley MA 02481.
