DRACUT- Ernestine L. (Carty) Nickerson, 82, a resident of Dracut, devoted mother and grandmother, died Friday January 19th at D'Youville Senior Care in Lowell. She was the wife of the late Carl R. Nickerson.
She was born in Revere on July 31, 1924, and was a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Blacquiere) Carty. She received her education in East Boston schools.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Nickerson was employed for fifteen years as an assembler for Wang Laboratories in Tewksbury.
She enjoyed spending her summers in Maine and her winters in Florida.
She was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Lowell.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Ronald and Margie Nickerson of Marietta, GA, and Robert and Catherine Nickerson of Dracut; two daughters and a son-in-law Carlene and Thomas Theall, and Gayle Nickerson with whom she resided, all of Dracut; six grandchildren Kimberly VanBuren and her husband Eric, Scott Nickerson and his wife Paula, Katelyn Nickerson, Sarah Nickerson, Carl Theall, and Joseph Theall; two great grandchildren Nathan and Anna VanBuren; three sisters Julia Gallagher of Tewksbury, Theresa Grimes and her husband John of New Hampshire, and Irene Dougherty and her husband Bernard of New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Tuesday from 4 until 8pm. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday at 9am followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10am in St. Michael Church, Lowell. Interment in Tewksbury Cemetery.
