Obituary

Irene S. (Smith) Horton, 91, of Dartmouth died Sunday January 14, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late George L. Horton.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, she lived in Sudbury and Hyannis for many years before moving to Dartmouth three years ago.

Mrs. Horton attended the First Church of the Nazarene in New Bedford.

She was a member of the Red Hat Society at the Heritage at Dartmouth. In her earlier years, she was a member of the Rainbow Girls and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother.

Survivors include three sons, Frederick R. Horton of Poughkeepsie, NY, David B. Horton of Marion, and Lawrence E. Horton of Quincy; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late George L. Horton III and Ronald C. Horton, grandmother of the late Bethany Horton, and sister of the late Mildred Potat and Vera Smith.

Her Memorial Service will be held on Saturday January 27, 2007 at 10:30 AM in the First Church of the Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Road, New Bedford. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Eastham. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
