George E. Wells, age 79, died suddenly on Friday October 11, 2002 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford.
He was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on February 23, 1923 a son of the late Alonzo and Etta (Wood) Wells.
Mr. Wells was a World War II Navy Veteran, enlisting on November 5, 1942. He attained the rank of Gunner's Mate, Third Class. While serving on the USS Schroeder he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Star as well as a good conduct medal. George was honorably discharged on December 10, 1945.
He was employed as a security guard for 15 years from the Boston Globe. George was a member of the VFW, 1012 and the D.A.V., 19.
George married his beloved wife, Georgette D. Brazeau, on January 5, 1946 at St. Joseph Church in Medford. Besides his wife, George leaves three children, Donald C. Wells of Medford, Gary P. and his wife Diane M. Wells of Wilmington and Diane M. and her husband Jack Kearney of Billerica. He is the cherished grandfather of Daniel, Andrew, Jennifer and Derek.
Visiting hours will be held in the Beals- Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Monday from 5 to 8 PM Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Funeral service will be private.
