Obituary

Velma Danforth Kelly, 76, of Tifton, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2007, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Steve Sutton will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Harper, Ronald Harper, Ray Woods, Mike Moore, Marvin Brooks and Tom Skinner. Honorary pallbearers will be Scotty and Mary Ann Storey, Wanda Moore, Dot and Carlton Barry, Lamar and Rita Brooks, Frank and Greta Sinclair, Fred Clay, Johnny Lindsey, John Danforth and Gene Woods. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 19, 2007, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Ms. Kelly was born on July 10, 1930 in Berrien County and was the daughter of Jessie Danforth and Emma Rogers Danforth, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, G. C. "Bull" Kelly; one son, Neal Kelly, who passed away in 1965; and one brother, John W. Danforth. She was a homemaker and attended Eldorado Baptist Church until her health failed. She was a loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt and friend to all. "Nanny" dearly loved her only grandchild, Chase Kelly. She had lived in Tift County all of her life.

Ms. Kelly is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Melinda Kelly of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Lee Carter of Tifton; three sisters, Jewell Harper of Tifton, Bertha Lee Lindsey of Tifton and Louise Woods of Tifton; one grandchild, Chase Kelly of Tifton; and a special caregiver, Annie Mae White.
