Arno R. Norrman, 85, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Friday, January 12 after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Mary H. (Cotter) Norrman. Born in Brockton, he was a graduate of Brockton Schools and Wentworth Institute in Boston. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army Air Corps. While in the Air Corps, he was a Tailgunner in a B-24D. One of his missions involved in a low-level raid of the Proesti, Romania Oil Fields in 1943. For his service on this mission and others, he received several medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters.
Mr. Norrman was a resident of Easton for 52 years. He was the owner of Ar-No Machine Co. in Easton for many years. He was a member and Past Commander of the VFW Post 2547 in Easton and a member of the Vasa Club in Brockton. In his free time he enjoyed working in his yard and spending time with his family.
Mr. Norrman is survived by his children, Michael A. Norrman and his wife Wendy, Robert E. Norrman and his wife Bonnie, John F. Norrman and his wife Doreen and Victoria A. Cole and her husband John all of Easton, Thomas W. Norrman and his wife Sheila of E. Bridgewater, and Daniel R. Norrman and his wife Melissa of Dedham as well as his siblings, Lillian Svenson of Newburyport and Richard Norrman of ME. He is also survived by his brother in law James Cotter of Plymouth, 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Lordan.
Funeral Prayers will be offered from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, January 17 at 11:30 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM.
