Obituary




Charles B. “Charlie” Orcutt 77, died Tuesday in the New England Medical Center in Boston, after a short illness. He was the husband of Vivian C. (Gurney) Orcutt of Whitman.

Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Ralph N. and Lucy I. (Bates) Orcutt.

Charlie was a life long resident of Whitman and a graduate of Whitman High class of 1947and then attended the Boston University 1947-1948 until he was drafted in to the United States Army.

He was a member of the United States Methodist Church in Whitman, and past president of the Citizens Scholarship fund.

Charlie worked at the Regal Shore Company of Whitman Savings Bank, the Thorny Lea golf course Brockton, Brockton Hospital as a shipper and receiver and worked part time for the Brockton Enterprise.

He was an avid College and Professional Sports and enjoyed watching and attending all sporting events, also playing baseball, golf, bowling, dancing and vacationing in Chatham, MA.

He is survived by his wife Vivian C. (Gurney) Orcutt of Whitman .his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Natalie (Silva) Orcutt of Brockton, a sister, Dorothy Wheaton of Whitman, his cousin
Alvah K. Howe, Jr. of Whitman; many nieces and nephews and great nieces, He was also the father of the late Nancy L. Orcutt.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday January 13th at 1:00 P. M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, MA .Burial will be in the Colebrook Cemetery Whitman, MA. Visiting hours Friday January 12th 3-5 & 7-9 Donations may be made in his name to the United Methodist Church South Ave., Whitman, MA, 02382
