NEW BEDFORD -- Ruth M. (Gregory) Jones, age 88 years, of Acushnet and for most of her life a resident of New Bedford, died Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Taber Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Albert Jones.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Wendell I. and Julia (Sherman) Gregory. She was a graduate of Fairhaven High School class of 1936, a member of the North Baptist Church, the Wamsutta Grange, the AARP, the Women's Federation and a charter member of the Moby Dick African Violet Association.
She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Jones of Acushnet; her daughters, Carole Baptiste of Dartmouth and Barbara R. Cook of New Bedford; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; and her sister, Eleanor Goodwin of Wareham.
Her funeral will take place on Monday at 1 P.M. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford with visitation on Sunday from 2-5 P.M. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
