Obituary

Bennie L. Kennedy, Jr., 57, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, January 1, at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Wednesday, January 3, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Kennedy was born January 18, 1949, in Ocilla to Joyce Patterson Kennedy and the late Bennie L. Kennedy. He lived in the community most of his life. Mr. Kennedy was owner/operator of Bennie’s Painting And Wall Papering. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Fitzgerald Church Of God.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by his mother: Joyce Kennedy of Fitzgerald; daughter: Benja Kennedy of Fitzgerald; sister: Brenda Hardy of Bradenton, FL; special friend: Hopper of Fitzgerald; aunts & uncles: Buford & Carolyn Duke of Albany, Andrea & Russell Thomas of Americus and Mary Adamson of Manchester; niece and nephews: Liz Allison, B.J. Allison, Jay Drexler, Eric Kennedy, Rebecca Allison & Ben Allison; sister-in-law: Janet Kennedy of Leesburg as well as a host of friends. Along with his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Al Kennedy.
