Idabelle (Sebastian) Jordan, of Lantern Hill Road, North Stonington, the oldest living elder of the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation, passed away Sunday afternoon at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. She was 94 years old.
Mrs. Jordan was born in Mystic on March 14, 1912 one of ten children to Arthur Sebastian Sr. and Betty (Roberts) Sebastian. Raised in the area, she attended local schools.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a cook for the Blunt White family for over 42 years.She was married to William Jordan for over 64 years before his death on December 2, 2002.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by her only surviving sibling, Howard Sebastian of Mystic, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Arthur, Warren, James, and Benjamin Sebastian, Dorothy Hardy, Marjorie Colbert, Julia Sebastian, Lillie Hawkins, and Lillian Sebastian.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday from 11-11:45am. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 12noon with Pastor Russell Patrick, officiating. Burial will be in the Sebastian family plot at Elm Grove Cemetery.
