MARJORIE H. (MCPHEE) VISSER, 94, a homemaker, of Hingham, died on Thursday, Dec. 28th at the Harbor House Nursing Center in Hingham. Mrs. Visser was born in Framingham on July 11th, 1912 and at age 7 came to Rockland, MA. She was educated in the Rockland schools, graduating from Rockland High School in 1929. She moved to Hingham in 1935 upon her marriage to Edgar Visser. Mrs. Visser was a longtime active member of the South Shore Baptist Church of Hingham where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Deaconess and in later years was active in their Women's Prayer Group and Friendship Circle. She was also a member of the Boston South Gideon Auxiliary. She had many hobbies including; birdwatching, tending her houseplants, reading and letterwriting.
Wife of the late Edgar Visser, she is survived by 4 sons; Rev. Dr. Richard E. Visser of Brunswick, ME, Robert A. Visser of Hingham, David C. Visser of Wilmington, DE and John K. Visser of Gardendale, AL; a brother, Wesley McPhee of Halifax; 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be conducted on Thursday, Jan. 4th, 2007 at 11 AM at the South Shore Baptist Church, 578 Main St. (Rt. 228), Hingham, MA 02043.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Mission Fund of the South Shore Baptist Church or to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 24, Milton, MA 02186.
The interment will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hingham.
