Obituary

LOWELL - Theresa A. (Cole) Kacavas, 73, a well known resident of Lowell, devoted mother and grandmother, died Thursday December 28th after a courageous battle with cancer at her home, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Theodore Kacavas who died in 1980.
She was born in Lowell on April 22, 1933, and was a daughter of the late Ernest and Evelyn (Nash) Cole.
Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Kacavas was employed as a missile tester by the Raytheon Corporation in South Lowell.
She was a member of Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell. She was also a member of the IEBW Local 1505, and was a former member of the East End Club's Women's Auxiliary and was a member of the club's cribbage league.
She is survived by ten children, Theodore Kacavas and his wife Denise of Wells, ME, Diane Hubert and her husband Marc of Dracut, George Kacavas of Lowell, James Kacavas and his wife Linda of Pepperell, Katherine Cox and her husband Robert of Dracut, Donna Tremblay and her husband Scott of Townsend, Evelyn Giorgio and her husband Joseph of Methuen, Stephen Kacavas and his wife Robin of Dracut, , Christine McQuade and her husband Kevin of North Andover, and Nicole Heanssler and her husband Pete of Stockton Springs, ME; twenty four grandchildren Adam Kacavas, Danielle, LeaAnn, and Michael Hubert, Shawn, Craig, and Darek LeMay, Meghan, Ashleigh, and Kyle Cox, Sean Ecklund, Corey and Tyler Tremblay, Bryanna and Anthony Giorgio, Cody, Emilee, Kaylee, and Nicholas Kacavas, Emma, Nora, and Maggie McQuade and Hannah and Savannah Heanssler; a great grandson Collin Page; two sisters Dolores Wessinger of Eutawville, SC, Margaret Leverone of Venice, FL; two brothers John Cole and his wife Caroline of Hampton, NH, and Jeremiah Cole and his wife Patti of Lowell; two brothers-in-law Nicholas Kacavas and his wife Betty, and Frank Thurlow; a sister-in-law Margaret Ann Cole; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was also the mother of the late David Kacavas, the sister of the late Arthur Cole, Ernest Cole, Mary Matthews, and Geraldine Thurlow, daughter-in-law of the late George and Diane Kacavas.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Monday from 2 until 8PM with a Trisagion service at 6:30PM. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday at 9am, followed by her Funeral Service at 10am in Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Lowell. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the Saints Medical Cancer Center, 1 Hospital Dr., Lowell, MA 01852 or to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
