Obituary

Milan Kupka died Saturday at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center Burlington, after a brief illness. He was 59.

Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late Bohumir and the late Jirina (Huvora) Kupka. Milan was educated in Czechoslovakia and attented college there for two years. As a young man, Mr. Kupka fled his native land, then occupied by the Soviet Union, and came to the United States in search of freedom. It was here, according to his wife Ilona, that he truly felt at home. He became an American citizen in 1972

Mr. Kupka was a Woburn resident for the past 5 years and previously resided in Sherborn.

An active, strong, and honest man, Mr. Kupka worked as a mechanic in the automoble industry. He maintained a strong work ethic even during his illness.

Milan was an avid tennis enthusiast. He played the game often and also watched many matches. He belonged to the Wellesley Tennis Club.

He is survived by His wife Ilona Fisher, two daughters: Ilona Kupka of CT, Michelle Kupka of Ashland, MA; two sons: Milan Kupka, Jr. of CT, Daniel Kupka of Worcester, MA; a step daughter, Adella Kolar and two grandchildren.Funeral sevices will be private at the family’s request.
