Don L. Crawford, 61, of Acushnet died Sunday December 24, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Yolande L. (Loranger) Crawford.
Born in Newtown, Missouri, the son of the late Leo H. and Lula (Brown) Crawford, he lived in the New Bedford area for the past 37 years.
He was a member of the Acushnet-Wesley United Methodist Church.
Mr. Crawford was formerly employed as a supervisor for New Bedford Gear and later was employed as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in East Providence, RI.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and later served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Survivors include his wife; two children, Shaun Crawford of Westport, and Erin Crawford of Fairhaven; three stepchildren, Robert Gaudreau of Tampa, FL, Marcelle DeCosta of Acushnet and Theresa Gaudreau of Fairhaven; a brother, Gene Crawford; three sisters, Margret Mallinger, Bernice Dover and Beverly Johnston; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was the brother of the late Kenneth Crawford and Dorothy Lawter.
His Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 11 AM in the Acushnet-Wesley United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 7-9 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
