Obituary

SALEM - Beatrice (Bourque) Karpowicz, 81, wife of Alexander Karpowicz, of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Salem, died Saturday evening, December 23, 2006 in the Salem Hospital.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Ovila & Hattie (Boulay) Bourque.

Prior to her retirement in the early 1980's, she was employed for 15 years as a bookkeeper by the former Primrose Market, which then became Giant Value, in Salem.

A resident of Salem for all of her life before moving to Peabody 4 years ago, Mrs. Karpowicz was a member of the Polish Falcons Of America, Nest #188 of Salem, and was a longtime member of the Sweet Adelaines.

Besides her husband, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Catherine Karpowicz of Peabody, one granddaughter, Allison Karpowicz of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Allice Abbott and Eleanor Riley.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 11 am at the chapel at Brooksby Village, Route 114, Peabody. Visiting hours are Thursday, 5 to 8 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
