Donald F. O’Connor
... retired from Tewksbury Hospital; 76
LOWELL - Donald F. O’Connor, age 76, a retired staff member of the Tewksbury Hospital, died
unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 24, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell, following
surgery. He was the husband of Barbara E. (Thomas) O’Connor.
He was born in Haverhill, on August 7, 1930, a son of the late Cornelius and Bridgett (Cronin)
O’Connor. Mr. O’Connor was raised in the Greater Boston area, and lived on the grounds of
Tewksbury Hospital for thirty years. He was a resident of Lowell for the last twenty years.
He worked at Tewksbury Hospital as a Charge Attendant for over 38 years.
Mr. O’Connor was a Charter Member and Life Member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks
Lodge 2070, and a retired member of Tewksbury Hospital’s Union, A.F.S.C.M.E.
He enjoyed horse racing, and was a frequent visitor to Rockingham Park, in NH, and Suffolk
Downs in Revere. He was also a passionate fan of New England’s professional sports teams,
especially the Patriots and the Red Sox.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Cornelius “Neil” O’Connor and his wife Mendie
(Isaac) of Saco, Maine, Dorothy B. Garcia and her husband Jack of Oklahoma, Thomas J.
O’Connor of Arizona; seven step-children by his late wife, Mary (Clarke)(Conner) O’Connor;
Larry Conner of Lowell, Mary Hudson of Wilmington, Kathy Casserly of Lowell, Terry Conner
of Haverhill, Cindy Conner and Debbie Biggs both of Texas, Joan Salisbury of Wilton, NH; three
grandchildren, Kristin Beaudoin of Saco, Maine, Erin O’Connor of Kennebunk, Maine, Shannon
O’Connor of Arizona; 17 step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren, Cove and Paige; four step-
great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late Rita Cronin, Catherine Grummell, Patrick “Billy” O’Connor and
Thomas O’Connor.
A Memorial Mass, was celebrated on
Saturday, Dec. 30, in St. William’s Church, TEWKSBURY.
