Vernal C. “Sonny” Anderson Jr., 68 of Franklin died December 20 at his son’s home following a long illness. He was the husband of the late Betty F. (Santos) Anderson, who died in 2002.
Born in Plymouth Mass, October 2, 1938 the son of Natalie (Noyes) Anderson of Franklin and the late Vernal Anderson, Mr. Anderson had lived in Franklin for over 40years.
Mr. Anderson had been a self employed carpenter-house framer for over many years. Mr. Anderson served in the Marine Corps during the late 1950’s attaining the rank of Corporal.
He was a member of the Franklin Elks Club and was an avid golfer and saltwater fisherman.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his 5 children, Donald L. Nelson of Wrentham, Deborah Mackey of North Attleboro, Penny A. Gately of Norfolk, Mark C. Anderson of Cumberland R.I. and Paul C. Anderson of Franklin. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Arthur Anderson of Lincoln Maine, Robert Anderson of Kingston and David Anderson of Franklin, 2 sisters, Eleanor Barwick and Jane Parks, both of Franklin, 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 23 in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber St. in Medway at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Kingston.
Calling hours will be on Friday from, 4-8 p.m.
