Obituary

Danvers: Grace I. (LeBlanc) Kapnis, age 82 of Danvers, died Wednesday morning, December 20, 2006, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Spiro P. Kapnis, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Dorilda (Deschamps) LeBlanc. As a young woman she first worked for Sylvania in Salem. For over 25 years she was employed as a life guard and swimming instructor for the Danvers YMCA.
Gracie was athletic from her childhood through most of her adult life. She played softball up to the time of her first bout with failing health, and loved swimming. She was an avid professional sports fan.
Gracie and her family moved to Danvers from Salem in 1955.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Paul J. Kapnis of Salem, a daughter, Joyce J. Robinson and her husband Larry of Lynn, a brother Arthur “Hawk” LeBlanc of Danvers, 3 sisters: Bertha Morin of Salem, Rita Sewards and Doris Boucher both of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 4 brothers: Henry, Rene, Albert and Gerard LeBlanc, 2 sisters: Cecile Letarte and Jeannette Erwin.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 8 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9:30am. Visiting hours: Friday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Northshore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
