Stanley J. Zablocki, Jr. died unexpectedly at home in Brockton on Wednesday, December 20. He was the husband of Flora H. (O’Brien) Zablocki. Born in Boston, Mr. Zablocki grew up in Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School, Class of 1959 and Northeastern University. He was a resident of Avon for 38 years before moving to Brockton 5 years ago. Mr. Zablocki was a carpenter with Local 33 in Boston for 35 years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Fishing Hall of Fame in Hayward, WI as well as Duck’s Unlimited and Trouts Unlimited. He was a member of the Standish Sportsmen Club in East Bridgewater for 30 years and ran many fishing derbies for children. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Assn. He was also a member of the AARP in Brockton. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family as well as going to fairs, carnivals and flea markets. He also enjoyed going to TK O’Shea’s in Brockton with his friends and taking trips to Hooter’s in Providence with his friend Tarky.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Zablocki is also survived by his children, Arlene A. Johnson and Sheila M. Velissaris both of Avon, Joseph S. Zablocki of Stoughton and Erik G. Zablocki of Brockton, as well as his grandchildren, Kerry Ann Johnson, Mark Johnson, Jr., Jimmy and Cassandra Velissaris and Tyler and Matthew Zablocki and his sisters, Maryann Zablocki of Abington and Phyllis Gulick-Salamone of Stoughton.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, December 27 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Stoughton. Donations in Stanley‘s name may be made to Dove, Inc., PO Box 690267, Quincy, MA 02269.
