Mr. John Francis Ness, Jr. a lifelong resident of Medford, Massachusetts, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford following a lengthy illness. He was 66 years old.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, on October 26, 1940, he was a beloved son of the late John F and Alice M. (Davis) Ness, Sr. Mr. Ness was a Railroad Signalman at Conrail for more than 25 years. He also served in the National Guard.
Mr. Ness was the loving father of John F. Ness III of Medford and Christopher M. and his wife Alison M. Ness of North Andover. Devoted brother of Robert A. and his wife Lesley-Anne Ness of Lynn and Judith A. and her husband George Bennett of Lancaster, PA. Former husband of Elaine F. Foley of Middleton. Cherished grandfather of Ryan and Jason Ness both of North Andover. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. His funeral was held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday, December 22, 2006, at 8 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 9 AM. Many relatives and friends attended. Visiting hours were Thursday, December 21, 2006 from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
