Obituary

Claire J. (Gregoire) Tremblay, 69, of West Wareham died Tuesday October 1, 2002 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. She was the wife of Leo R. Tremblay, with whom she recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April 2002.

Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late Norbert and Laura (Benoit) Gregoire, she had lived in Wareham for many years. She wintered in Largo, Florida.

Mrs. Tremblay was the founder of the Tremblay Bus Company in New Bedford.

She was known as "Mom", "Memere", "Grandmemere" and "Aunt Claire". The loves of her life were her husband, who was also her best friend, her children and grandchildren and preparing Sunday dinner for her family.

Mrs. Tremblay was a member of Pocahontas in Wareham. She was an avid card player and enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include her husband; 4 sons, David Tremblay and his wife Fatima, and Dennis Tremblay and his wife Donna, all of Wareham, Daniel Tremblay and his wife Maria, and Douglas Tremblay and his wife Nancy, all of New Bedford; 3 daughters, Jacqueline Rendek of Dartmouth, Carol Fairclough and her companion Stephen Graustein, of Acushnet, and Joanne Chase and her companion Keith Amorin, of New Bedford; a brother, Laurent Gregoire of Wareham; a sister, Cecile Arruda of Fairhaven; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Rachel Neves, and mother-in-law of the late Lawrence Rendek and Dean Fairclough.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Saturday at 8:30AM.Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, Fairhaven, at 9:30 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 2-4 and 7-9.
