Dartmouth-Esther Barbara Nichols age 82, died Thursday December 14, 2006 at her son’s house, with her loving family around her. She was the beloved widow of Arthur F. Nichols. She was the mother of Robert M. Nichols of Dartmouth, David A. Nichols of Raynham, and the late Arthur F. Nichols Jr. She was the loving grandmother of Melanie Montanez, Sherri Nichols, Ashley Nichols, Julia Nichols, and Emily Nichols. She was the sister of Ida Machado, and Virginia Oliveira both of New Bedford, Antone and Manuel Lima both of Martha’s Vineyard. She is also survived by 2 Great-grandchildren, and several nieces, and nephews.
Mrs. Nichols was the daughter of the late Manuel and Ida (Frank) Lima. She was born in Vineyard Haven, on Martha’s Vineyard and has lived in this area since 1944. She was a payroll clerk for the City New Bedford Police Department until her retirement.
Her funeral will be Monday December 18, 2006, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9 A.M. with a Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church, on County St., New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours will be Sunday December 17, 2006 from 5-8 P.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
